The Goodman 20171701 is a factory-original condensate drain trap engineered specifically for the AMS950453BXA gas furnace and compatible Goodman/Amana high-efficiency models. During normal operation a 95% AFUE furnace produces several gallons of acidic condensate per day; this trap maintains the water seal that lets condensate drain freely while blocking combustion gases and flue pull-through from re-entering the cabinet. A cracked, clogged, or missing trap is one of the most common causes of pressure-switch lockouts and standing water in the burner compartment.
This is a true OEM Goodman component built to the exact port spacing, seal height, and barb dimensions of your furnace. Generic universal traps often require adapters, leak at mismatched fittings, or trip the low-pressure switch because the seal depth is wrong. For a condensate part where a poor seal means nuisance shutdowns, the OEM trap is the reliable choice.
Rated 2/5. Power down the furnace, disconnect the inlet and drain hoses, swap the trap, prime it with a cup of water to establish the seal, and reconnect. Roughly 15–20 minutes with basic hand tools. Inspect the connected drain hoses for cracks while you're in there.
