The Goodman 20171701 Condensate Drain Trap is a genuine OEM component for the AMH950703BXAF 96% AFUE condensing gas furnace and compatible Goodman/Amana models. In high-efficiency furnaces, the secondary heat exchanger produces acidic condensate that must drain freely while the trap maintains a water seal that prevents flue gases and pressure loss from escaping the drain line. A cracked, clogged, or brittle trap leads to water leaks, pressure-switch faults, and shutdowns.
This trap matches the exact port locations, barb sizes, and internal baffle geometry the furnace was designed around. Generic universal traps often require adapters that create leak points and can defeat the pressure seal, tripping the pressure switch. OEM guarantees a drop-in, leak-tight fit.
Moderate (2/5). Requires disconnecting condensate hoses, clearing any blockage, and re-seating the trap — roughly 20–30 minutes. Have a towel ready for residual condensate and confirm all hose connections are secure and unclogged. Power off the furnace before servicing.
