The Goodman/Amana 0130F00010S Flame Sensor (flame rod) is the OEM safety component that confirms a flame is present after ignition on the AMEH960403BXAA high-efficiency gas furnace. Using flame-rectification, it sends a micro-amp signal to the control board proving burner flame; if the signal is weak or absent, the board shuts off gas to prevent unburned fuel from accumulating. A dirty, corroded, or cracked flame sensor is the single most common cause of furnace short-cycling and ignition lockouts—the burners light, then shut off after a few seconds.
This genuine OEM flame sensor matches the exact rod length, mounting bracket, and terminal of the AMEH960403BXAA, so it seats correctly in the flame path and delivers a strong, stable microamp signal. Generic sensors often sit at the wrong position in the flame, producing a marginal signal that causes intermittent lockouts. The factory part restores reliable, code-compliant flame proving.
Easy (2 of 5). Shut off power and gas, remove the single mounting screw, unplug the sensor wire, install the new sensor, and reconnect. A confident DIYer can complete it in minutes; if you're unsure, an HVAC tech can swap it during a service call.
Keep a spare on hand—flame sensors are inexpensive and a leading cause of no-heat calls.
