In-shot burners deliver the gas/air mixture into the heat exchanger tubes for clean, efficient combustion. A furnace uses one burner per heat-exchanger tube, so worn, rusted, or clogged burners should be replaced as a matched set for even flame distribution.
Symptoms of a failing burner include delayed or rough ignition, flame rollout, sooting, uneven heating, or a burner that fails to light. Replacing the burners restores a crisp, blue flame and proper heat transfer.
