The Goodman 20162903 Primary Limit Switch is a genuine OEM safety control designed as a direct replacement for the GKS90905DXAF gas furnace and other compatible Goodman/Amana models. This high-limit switch continuously monitors heat-exchanger temperature and cuts power to the gas valve if the furnace overheats — protecting your equipment and your home. A failed limit switch is a common cause of a furnace that short-cycles, trips on high temperature, or fails to fire.
Our OEM version is the factory-specified part with the exact trip temperature, mounting flange, and terminal layout your furnace's control board expects — the safest, guaranteed-fit choice. A generic equivalent can save a few dollars but may vary slightly in bracket dimensions or reset behavior, so verify the temperature rating before installing.
Easy (1/5). Shut off power and gas, remove two screws securing the switch to the heat-exchanger panel, disconnect the two spade terminals, and reverse the process with the new switch. Typically a 10–15 minute job for a DIYer comfortable working around a de-energized furnace. If you are unsure why the original switch failed, have a licensed HVAC technician inspect for a blocked flue or dirty filter first.
