The Goodman 20197312 is the OEM negative-pressure safety switch for the AMS950703BXA gas furnace. It verifies that the inducer draft motor is pulling proper airflow through the heat exchanger before the ignition sequence begins. If the switch does not close on a call for heat, the control board locks out the burners — protecting against blocked vents, cracked hoses, or a failing inducer.
The OEM switch is factory-calibrated to the exact -0.37" setpoint required by this furnace's inducer and venting design — critical for reliable ignition and safe operation. Generic switches are available at various setpoints, but installing the wrong trip pressure causes nuisance lockouts or bypasses a genuine safety fault. For a pressure switch, always match the OEM setpoint.
Easy–Moderate (2 of 3). Cut power, note wire and hose positions, transfer the two spade terminals and the pressure tube to the new switch, and mount it with the original screws. Verify the hose is clear of condensate before restarting. Roughly 20–30 minutes.
