The Goodman B1226206 Suction Line Accumulator is a genuine OEM component built as a direct replacement for the Goodman APH1430H41DD heat pump. Positioned on the suction line ahead of the compressor, the accumulator traps liquid refrigerant during defrost cycles and reversing-valve transitions, metering it back as vapor so it never slugs the compressor. On heat pumps — where liquid floodback is common during defrost — this part is essential compressor insurance, and a cracked or internally failed accumulator can lead to expensive compressor damage.
The genuine Goodman accumulator is sized to the exact internal volume, port diameters, and oil-return orifice specified for your unit, so refrigerant charge behavior and oil return remain correct. Generic accumulators with mismatched volume or fittings can compromise oil return and require adapter fittings that add leak points. For a sealed-system component, OEM fitment matters.
Rating: Hard (4/5). This is a sealed-system repair. It requires EPA-certified refrigerant recovery, brazing the new accumulator into the suction line under nitrogen purge, evacuating the system, and recharging to spec. This job should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician — not a DIY replacement.
