The Goodman 20162904 Primary Limit Temperature Control is a genuine OEM safety high-limit switch engineered for the Goodman/Amana AMV91155DXBC variable-speed gas furnace. This normally-closed thermal switch monitors heat exchanger and blower-compartment temperature, opening the ignition circuit to shut down the burners if the furnace overheats from restricted airflow, a dirty filter, or blower failure. It is a critical life-safety component — never bypass or jumper a failed limit control.
This is a genuine OEM Goodman component built to the exact trip temperature and mounting geometry specified for your furnace. Aftermarket generic limits may use a different cut-out temperature, causing nuisance shutdowns or, worse, failing to protect the heat exchanger. For a safety control, we strongly recommend OEM.
Difficulty: Moderate (2/5). Disconnect power, remove the burner/blower access panel, and transfer two spade connectors. Most DIYers with a multimeter finish in 20-30 minutes. Always confirm power is off at the breaker before servicing.
