The Goodman B1370191 is a genuine OEM 220°F primary high-limit switch for the Goodman/Amana GMT115-5A gas furnace. Mounted on the heat exchanger bulkhead, this control monitors supply-air temperature and shuts off the burners if the furnace overheats due to low airflow — typically a dirty filter, closed registers, a failing blower, or an undersized duct. A worn or drifting limit switch causes nuisance short-cycling and comfort complaints.
The OEM B1370191 is set to Goodman's precise 220°F trip point with the correct sensing-element length and mounting-hole pattern for your furnace. As a safety limit, the trip temperature and probe depth must match the factory specification exactly — generic switches with the wrong setpoint can either nuisance-trip or fail to protect the heat exchanger. Choose OEM for this control.
Cut power, remove two mounting screws, transfer the wiring, and install the replacement — taking care not to bend the sensing element. Before returning the furnace to service, replace the air filter and verify proper blower airflow so the new limit isn't tripped by the same underlying restriction.
