The Goodman 10716005 is a genuine OEM natural gas burner orifice (spud) for the Amana AMVC80805CNBA variable-speed 80% AFUE furnace. The orifice is the precision-drilled brass fitting that meters gas flow into each in-shot burner — its bore size directly sets the BTU input per burner. A damaged, over-drilled, or wrong-size orifice throws off the air/fuel ratio, causing sooting, poor flame, delayed ignition, or under/over-firing.
The OEM Goodman orifice is drilled to the exact number-size the manifold pressure and burner venturi require. Generic or hand-drilled orifices rarely hold that tolerance, and even a few thousandths of an inch shifts firing rate and CO output.
