Mounted on the burner assembly, this switch senses abnormal flame rollout or overheating and cuts power to the gas valve to protect your equipment and home. When the switch trips, it must be manually reset with the button once the fault is corrected — a design that forces a technician to inspect the root cause rather than let the furnace cycle unsafely.
