The Goodman 10123539 Manual Reset Limit Switch is a genuine OEM high-temperature safety control for Goodman VCSS961005CNAA gas furnaces. This normally-closed switch opens to shut off the burners if it senses an over-temperature or flame-rollout condition, protecting the heat exchanger and household from overheating. Because it is a manual reset device, it must be physically reset by pressing the button after the underlying fault is corrected — a deliberate safety feature that flags a real problem rather than silently self-clearing.
The 10123539 is calibrated to Goodman's exact trip temperature and terminal/bracket configuration. A generic switch with the wrong trip point can nuisance-trip or, worse, fail to protect the furnace. Using the factory-specified part ensures correct safety operation and keeps your warranty intact — critical for a life-safety component.
Moderate (2/5). Shut off power and gas first. Disconnect the two spade terminals, unfasten the mounting screws, install the new switch in the same orientation, and reconnect the wiring. If the switch had tripped, diagnose and fix the root cause (restricted airflow, dirty filter, cracked heat exchanger, blocked flue) before returning the furnace to service.
Do not bypass a safety limit switch. When in doubt, have a licensed HVAC technician perform the replacement.
