The Goodman 10123529 Manual Reset Limit Switch is a genuine OEM safety control for the Goodman/Amana GMPE100-4A gas furnace. This switch monitors furnace temperature and opens the burner circuit if a high-temperature or flame-rollout condition is detected, protecting the heat exchanger and surrounding cabinet from overheating. Because it is a manual reset device, it stays open after tripping until an operator physically presses the reset button — a deliberate design that forces a service inspection before the furnace is allowed to fire again.
This is the factory OEM component — calibrated to the exact trip temperature specified for the GMPE100-4A. Generic replacements often use approximate trip points and looser tolerances, which can cause nuisance lockouts or, worse, fail to trip at the correct temperature. For a safety-critical limit control, OEM is strongly recommended.
Two-wire spade connection and a single mounting bracket. A capable DIYer can swap it in about 15–20 minutes with basic hand tools. Always disconnect power at the breaker before servicing. If the switch trips again after reset, do not repeatedly reset it — have the airflow, filter, and heat exchanger inspected by a licensed technician.
