The Goodman 10123533 Manual Reset Limit Switch is the genuine OEM high-limit safety control for the GMH950703BXAE 96% AFUE two-stage gas furnace. This switch monitors heat-exchanger temperature and opens the circuit if the furnace overheats — from a blocked filter, failed blower, or restricted airflow — shutting the burners down to prevent damage and unsafe operation. Because it is a manual-reset device, it stays open after a trip until a technician presses the button, forcing the underlying fault to be found and corrected.
Limit switches are calibrated to a specific trip temperature. A generic switch with the wrong setpoint either nuisance-trips in normal operation or, worse, fails to cut out when it should. This OEM part carries Goodman's exact factory calibration and mounting, so it protects the furnace correctly and keeps warranty coverage in place — never guess on a safety control.
Moderate (2/5). Shut off power and gas at the furnace before servicing. Remove the two mounting screws, transfer the wire terminals to the new switch, and reinstall. If the old switch tripped, diagnose and clear the airflow or blower fault before restoring power. When in doubt, use a licensed HVAC technician.
