The Goodman 10123517 Manual Reset Limit Switch is a genuine OEM high-limit safety switch for the GCH950704CXAC and other GCH95-series gas furnaces. This normally-closed thermal switch trips and cuts the burner circuit if the furnace overheats — protecting the heat exchanger from cracking and preventing a fire hazard. Because it is a manual reset device, it must be pressed to restore operation after a trip, which flags that an overheat condition (often a blocked filter or blower failure) needs attention.
Limit switches are calibrated to a specific trip temperature matched to the furnace's design. A generic switch with the wrong setpoint will either nuisance-trip or, worse, fail to protect the heat exchanger. The OEM 10123517 carries Goodman's exact temperature rating for safe, code-correct operation.
Requires removing two spade wire connectors and a mounting screw or clip. Shut off power and gas first. Because this is a safety component, verify correct seating and, if the old switch tripped, diagnose the underlying overheat cause. When in doubt, use a licensed HVAC technician.
