The Goodman 10123517 Manual Reset Limit Switch is a genuine OEM high-limit / rollout safety control for GCH950704CXAA gas furnaces and compatible Goodman/Amana models. It opens the ignition circuit and shuts down the burner if it detects an overheat or flame-rollout condition — protecting the heat exchanger and cabinet from dangerous temperatures. Because it's a manual-reset device, it stays tripped until you press the reset button, alerting you that a real fault occurred.
As a life-safety component, this switch should match the furnace's exact trip temperature and mounting. The OEM 10123517 is calibrated to Goodman's specification, so it protects without nuisance tripping. Generic limit switches may carry a different trip point or terminal orientation, risking either false lockouts or — worse — failure to trip when it matters. OEM is the recommended choice here.
About 10–15 minutes. Turn off furnace power, note and disconnect the two spade terminals, remove the mounting screws, and install the new 10123517 in the same orientation. Restore power and run a heat cycle. Important: if a limit switch keeps tripping, replacing it treats the symptom — investigate the root cause (dirty filter, blocked vent, failing blower) so the overheat condition doesn't recur.
