The 10123529 is a genuine Goodman OEM manual-reset high-limit safety switch for the AMVM971005CNAA modulating variable-speed gas furnace. This normally-closed thermal cutoff opens the control circuit if it senses abnormal heat — such as a flame rollout or blocked heat exchanger — shutting down the burners to protect the furnace and home. Because it is manual-reset, it stays open after a trip and must be reset by hand, alerting the homeowner or technician that a fault occurred.
A limit switch is a life-safety device, and trip temperature must match the furnace design exactly. The genuine Goodman 10123529 is calibrated to the factory setpoint and terminal layout. Generic switches with the wrong opening temperature can nuisance-trip or, worse, fail to trip — never substitute on a safety control.
Moderate (2/5). Shut off gas and power, note or photograph the wiring, unscrew the mounting bracket, transfer the spade terminals, and remount. Basic hand tools only. If you are unsure, have a licensed HVAC technician verify the fault before replacing a tripped safety switch.
