The Goodman 10123529 Manual Reset Limit Switch is a genuine OEM safety control for the AMVC80805DNBC 80% variable-speed gas furnace. This normally-closed thermal switch opens and cuts power to the gas valve if it senses an unsafe over-temperature or flame-rollout condition, protecting the furnace and home. Unlike an auto-reset limit, a manual reset switch stays open until pressed, ensuring a technician inspects the fault before the furnace can re-fire.
If your furnace ignites then shuts down, or won't light at all, a tripped or failed manual reset limit is a common cause. A switch that trips repeatedly or fails to reset should be replaced.
As a life-safety device, the trip temperature must exactly match your furnace's design. Genuine OEM switches are calibrated to Goodman's spec; generic switches with the wrong trip point can allow unsafe operation or cause nuisance shutdowns. Always use OEM for safety controls.
Easy (2/5). Two mounting screws and two spade terminals. Shut off power and gas, note wiring, swap the switch, and press to reset. If it trips again, diagnose the underlying overheat cause.
