The Goodman 10123529 is a genuine OEM manual reset high-limit switch engineered for the AMVC80805CNBB two-stage/modulating gas furnace and other compatible Goodman and Amana models. This normally-closed safety control opens the burner circuit if heat-exchanger temperatures climb past the trip point, shutting the furnace down to prevent overheating. Because it is a manual reset design, it will not automatically re-energize after a fault — the red button must be pressed once the cause of the overheat (a blocked filter, closed registers, or failed blower) has been corrected, which is exactly the safety behavior the equipment was certified with.
This is a factory Goodman OEM component, not a universal aftermarket switch. OEM limit switches carry the correct trip temperature, mounting footprint, and terminal spacing for your furnace, so the safety circuit performs to spec. Generic substitutes often trip at the wrong temperature or require adapter brackets, which can cause nuisance lockouts or fail to protect the heat exchanger. For a safety-critical control, the exact OEM part is the recommended choice.
Replacement involves shutting off power and gas, removing the burner-compartment or blower-access panel, disconnecting the two spade terminals, and swapping the switch. A basic multimeter helps confirm the old switch has failed open. Most DIYers with HVAC experience complete this in 20–30 minutes; if you are unsure why the limit tripped, have a licensed technician diagnose the root cause first.
