The Goodman 10123535 Manual Reset Limit Switch (red) is a genuine OEM safety control engineered for the AMH950453BXAF gas furnace and other compatible Goodman and Amana models. This high-limit switch continuously monitors heat-exchanger and burner-compartment temperatures, tripping the gas valve if the furnace overheats or a flame rollout occurs. Because it is a manual reset device, it locks out until a technician physically presses the reset button — an intentional design that flags a serious airflow or combustion problem before the furnace is allowed to fire again.
This is the factory OEM part — an exact trip-temperature and terminal-pattern match, so it seats on the original bracket with no wiring modifications. Generic aftermarket limit switches are cheaper but often carry a different reset temperature, which can cause nuisance lockouts or, worse, fail to protect the heat exchanger. For a safety-critical control, OEM is the recommended choice.
Easy (2/5). A DIY-capable homeowner with basic tools can swap this in 15–20 minutes: power off at the breaker, disconnect the two spade terminals, remove the mounting screws, and reverse. If the switch keeps tripping after replacement, stop and diagnose the airflow/combustion issue — a tripping limit is a symptom, not the disease.
