The Goodman 10123539 Manual Reset Limit Switch is a genuine OEM high-temperature safety control for the AMES920803BNAA gas furnace and compatible Goodman/Amana models. This normally-closed switch opens the ignition/gas circuit if it senses an over-temperature or flame-rollout condition, shutting the furnace down to protect the heat exchanger and household. Because it is a manual reset device, it must be reset by hand after the fault is cleared — a deliberate safety feature that flags a recurring problem instead of masking it.
Limit switches are safety-critical, and trip temperature and mounting must match exactly. The OEM Goodman switch is factory-calibrated to the correct set point for this furnace. A mismatched generic switch can nuisance-trip or, worse, fail to trip — never substitute an unverified part on a safety control.
Difficulty: Moderate (2/5). Power and gas off, disconnect the two spade terminals, remove the mounting screws, and install the replacement in the same orientation. 20–30 minutes. If the switch keeps tripping, diagnose the underlying airflow or venting fault before repeated resets.
