The Goodman 10123534 Manual Reset Limit Switch is a genuine OEM thermal safety device for the ACSH960904CXAA 96% AFUE gas furnace. Unlike auto-reset limits, a manual-reset switch latches open when it trips and requires a physical push of its reset button to restore the circuit — a deliberate design that forces a technician to investigate the fault before the furnace can fire again. It commonly serves as a flame-rollout or high-limit safety, protecting against blocked flues, cracked heat exchangers, and burner rollout conditions.
The OEM switch is matched to the correct trip temperature and bracket geometry for the ACSH9 burner box. A generic manual-reset limit with a different set point can either nuisance-trip or fail to protect at the rated temperature. For a safety-critical rollout device, OEM is strongly recommended.
Moderate (2/5). Straightforward two-terminal swap, but a tripped manual-reset limit signals a real safety fault. Disconnect power, replace the switch, and — importantly — have a licensed HVAC technician diagnose the root cause (flue blockage, heat-exchanger crack, or rollout) before resetting.
