The 10123539 is a genuine Goodman manual-reset high-limit / rollout safety switch for the AMES921005CNAA gas furnace. This thermally activated switch opens the ignition/gas circuit if it senses an over-temperature or flame-rollout condition, shutting the furnace down to prevent damage and hazard. Because it is a manual-reset device, it must be pressed to reset after tripping — a deliberate safety feature that forces inspection before the furnace runs again. If your furnace repeatedly locks out on limit, this is a common replacement part.
OEM limit switches are calibrated to the exact trip temperature the furnace was engineered around, mount to the factory bracket, and use the correct terminal orientation. Generic switches with a different trip point can nuisance-trip or, worse, fail to protect — never a place to cut corners. Always use the OEM-spec safety switch.
Moderate (2/5). Shut off power and gas, disconnect two spade terminals, remove two mounting screws, and swap. About 15–20 minutes with basic hand tools. If the switch keeps tripping after replacement, have a technician diagnose the underlying overheat cause.
