The Goodman 10690402S Interlock Door Switch is a genuine OEM blower-door safety switch for the AMEC961205DNAA gas furnace. This plunger-style switch mounts inside the blower compartment and is held closed by the access panel. When the door is in place the switch completes the circuit and allows the furnace to operate; when the panel is removed, the plunger releases and de-energizes the furnace to protect service technicians and prevent operation with an open cabinet.
A failed or stuck door switch is a frequent cause of a completely dead furnace — no ignition, no blower, no lights — even when the thermostat is calling for heat. If the switch has broken, corroded, or the plunger no longer actuates, the control never sees power. Replacing it with the correct OEM part restores normal operation and the intended safety function.
Universal door switches often differ in plunger length and bracket geometry, so the panel may not actuate them reliably — leading to intermittent power loss. The OEM 10690402S matches the factory mounting and plunger travel for consistent, safe engagement every time the door is closed.
Easy to moderate. Turn off power at the disconnect, unscrew the switch from its bracket, transfer the wire leads, and remount so the closed door depresses the plunger fully. Confirm the furnace powers up only with the door in place.
