The 20171701 is the genuine OEM condensate drain trap for the Goodman GCH90905DXAA 90%+ AFUE condensing gas furnace. High-efficiency furnaces produce acidic condensate as flue gases cool, and this trap routes that water to the drain while maintaining a water seal that blocks flue gases from escaping into the cabinet. A cracked, clogged, or missing trap causes water leaks, pressure-switch faults, and no-heat lockouts — making this one of the most common condensing-furnace service parts.
The OEM Goodman trap matches the factory port spacing, float/seal geometry, and inlet/outlet sizing exactly, so it seals and drains correctly on the first try. Generic universal traps exist but often require adapters and careful re-plumbing; for a leak-free, code-compliant repair we recommend the direct-fit OEM part.
Moderate (3/5). Requires disconnecting condensate hoses, removing the old trap, priming the new trap with water, and reconnecting drain lines without kinks. Plan 30–45 minutes. Prime the trap with water before startup to establish the seal.
