The Goodman B1796630 Flowrator Inlet Tube is a genuine OEM refrigerant metering component for the evaporator coil in ARUF049-00A-1B air handlers. The flowrator (piston-style metering device) inlet tube delivers liquid refrigerant to the metering orifice at the correct entry point, ensuring proper coil feed and even refrigerant distribution. A damaged, kinked, or contaminated inlet tube can cause poor cooling, frosting, or pressure imbalance — making this inexpensive part a smart fix during coil service.
Metering components are dimensionally critical — bore, length, and braze fit affect refrigerant flow and superheat. The OEM tube guarantees the exact geometry the system was designed around. Generic substitutes risk improper seating and brazing leaks, so for any sealed-system work the genuine part is strongly preferred.
Difficulty: Advanced (EPA-certified). Replacing a flowrator inlet tube means opening the sealed refrigerant system: recover refrigerant, unbraze the old tube, braze in the new one under nitrogen, pull a vacuum, and recharge. This is licensed-technician work — handling refrigerant requires EPA Section 608 certification. Not a DIY repair.
