The Goodman 20171701 Condensate Drain Trap is a factory-original drainage component for the Goodman GMH951155DXAF 96% AFUE condensing gas furnace. High-efficiency furnaces produce acidic condensate that must drain freely through this trap, which also maintains the pressure seal that keeps combustion gases from escaping the drain line. A cracked, clogged, or brittle trap leads to water leaks, pressure-switch faults, and lockouts — making this a key maintenance and repair part.
The OEM 20171701 is the genuine Goodman trap with the correct port geometry and float for guaranteed pressure-switch compatibility. The generic equivalent replicates the fittings and drain path at a lower cost and works well for standard replacements. For condensing furnaces we recommend OEM to avoid nuisance pressure-switch trips.
Moderate (2/5). Requires disconnecting condensate hoses, clearing any debris, and reseating the trap with a good seal. Plan 20–30 minutes and prime the trap with water before restarting. Shut off power and gas before servicing.
