This stamped-steel transition panel directs combustion products from the furnace's induced-draft outlet into the vent connector or chimney, forming part of the sealed exhaust path that carries flue gases safely out of the home.
A correctly-fitted transition maintains proper draft and prevents flue-gas leakage at the furnace cabinet. Corrosion, warping, or a poor seal at this junction can spill combustion byproducts — including carbon monoxide — so a damaged or ill-fitting transition should be replaced with the exact factory part.
