The genuine Goodman 0130F00038 Auxiliary Limit Switch (identified by its light-blue color code) is a direct-fit OEM safety component for the Goodman WGFM28090V5CXAA gas furnace. This is a normally-closed thermal cutout that opens if temperatures in its zone climb past the factory trip point — for example due to a blocked blower, dirty filter, or restricted airflow — cutting off the heating cycle before the furnace can overheat. When it fails, the furnace typically won't fire or will stop heating unexpectedly.
The color code and trip temperature on Goodman limit switches are matched to the specific mounting location and heat-exchanger design. The OEM 0130F00038 is calibrated to the correct open/close temperature so it protects the furnace without nuisance-tripping in normal operation. Generic limits with the wrong trip point either trip too early (no heat) or too late (defeating the safety purpose), so matching the exact color-coded part is important.
A quick 10–15 minute swap. Turn off power, remove the panel, pull the two spade connectors, remove the mounting screws, install the replacement in the same orientation, and reconnect. Confirm the new switch is fully seated against its mounting surface for accurate sensing.
