The Goodman 0130F00038 Auxiliary Limit Switch (identified by its light blue housing) is a genuine OEM high-temperature safety control for the VMES960803BNAA gas furnace. This normally-closed thermal cutout monitors temperature in the blower compartment or secondary heat area and opens the circuit if it detects an overheat condition — shutting down the gas valve to protect the furnace and your home. A tripped or failed auxiliary limit is a common cause of a furnace that heats then abruptly stops.
The color-coded trip temperature on this OEM Goodman switch is matched precisely to the furnace's design. Installing a generic limit with the wrong set point can cause nuisance shutdowns or, worse, fail to protect against a genuine overheat. Because this is a safety device, the exact factory-specified part is strongly recommended.
De-energize the furnace, remove two mounting screws, transfer the two spade wires, and reinstall. No adjustment needed — the switch is preset at the factory. Replacement takes about 10-15 minutes.
