The genuine Goodman 0130F00038 auxiliary limit switch (identified by its light-blue body) is a normally-closed thermal safety control that opens if compartment temperatures exceed its rated trip point. It is an exact-fit replacement for the Goodman GCH950453BXAA and related gas furnaces. This device protects against overheating caused by restricted airflow, a failed blower, or a dirty filter — cutting the gas valve to prevent damage. A tripped or failed limit switch commonly shows up as a no-heat condition or repeated safety lockouts.
This OEM switch is calibrated to the exact trip temperature Goodman engineered for this cabinet. Substituting a switch with a different rating (a common generic mistake) can allow dangerous overheating or cause nuisance trips. The genuine light-blue part guarantees the correct set point and mounting.
Easy to Moderate. Power down the furnace, note wire positions, remove the two mounting screws, transfer the spade connectors to the new switch, and remount. About 15 minutes; confirm proper operation on a full heat cycle.
