The Goodman 0130F00038 is a genuine OEM auxiliary limit switch (light blue) designed for AMVM960603BXAA high-efficiency furnaces. This thermal safety device monitors temperature in a secondary location — such as the blower compartment or near the heat exchanger — and opens the circuit to shut down heating if it detects an overheat condition from restricted airflow, a dirty filter, or blower failure. A failed or nuisance-tripping auxiliary limit is a frequent cause of no-heat and repeated safety lockouts.
The OEM 0130F00038 is calibrated to the exact trip temperature and mounting footprint specified for the AMVM960603BXAA, so it protects the furnace without tripping prematurely. Generic switches with the wrong set point can either nuisance-trip or fail to protect the heat exchanger. Because this is a safety component, the genuine OEM part is strongly recommended.
Difficulty: Easy — Typically 15 minutes. Cut power to the furnace, note and disconnect the wiring, remove the mounting screws, install the new switch in the same orientation, and reconnect the leads. Restore power and verify normal heating with no premature shutoffs.
Never bypass a limit switch. Shut off power before servicing, and if the new switch continues to trip, have a licensed HVAC technician diagnose the underlying airflow or blower problem.
