The Goodman 0130F00038 Auxiliary Limit Switch (light-blue) is a genuine OEM safety control for the Amana/Goodman AMH80403AXBD gas furnace and related 80% AFUE units. This normally-closed thermal switch monitors temperature at the burner/heat-exchanger area and opens the ignition circuit if it senses an overheat or flame-rollout condition. When it trips, the furnace won't fire until the fault clears — protecting the heat exchanger and household from unsafe operation.
Limit switches are calibrated to a specific trip temperature and reset point. The OEM 0130F00038 carries the exact factory rating and the correct color code, so replacement matches the original protection curve. Substituting a generic switch with a different trip point can cause premature nuisance trips or, worse, fail to protect against a genuine overheat — never guess on a safety cutout.
Easy (2/5). Disconnect power, note the wire positions, remove the mounting screws, transfer the spade connectors to the new switch, and remount — about 10–15 minutes. If the switch keeps tripping after replacement, investigate the root cause (blocked flue, dirty burners, or failing inducer) rather than bypassing it. When in doubt, use a licensed HVAC technician.
