The Goodman 0130F00038 Auxiliary Limit Switch (identified by its light-blue housing) is a genuine OEM safety control for the Amana/Goodman AMEC800804CXAB gas furnace. This normally-closed thermal cutout opens if temperatures near the blower compartment or secondary heat area exceed a safe threshold, cutting power to protect the heat exchanger and surrounding components from overheating. A tripped or failed auxiliary limit is a frequent cause of intermittent no-heat and lockout conditions.
The OEM Goodman switch is calibrated to the exact trip and reset temperatures specified for this furnace platform. Generic limit switches with the wrong setpoint can either nuisance-trip (false no-heat) or fail to open when they should — a genuine safety concern. Because this is a protective device, we strongly recommend the OEM part.
Disconnect furnace power, note the wire routing, remove the two mounting screws, transfer the spade connectors to the new switch, and reinstall. Confirm the correct color/part before installing, as several similar limits are used on Goodman furnaces. A multimeter continuity check verifies proper operation.
This is a safety component — if you are unsure, consult a licensed HVAC technician.
