The Goodman 10728343 Limit Switch is a genuine OEM high-limit temperature control for the Goodman GMP100-4 gas furnace. It continuously senses supply-air temperature and opens the control circuit if the furnace exceeds its safe operating limit, shutting down the burners to protect the heat exchanger. This is a core safety device — a failed or out-of-calibration limit switch can cause short cycling, no-heat conditions, or, if bypassed, unsafe overheating.
Limit switches must trip at a precise factory-set temperature to protect the furnace correctly. This genuine OEM Goodman part is matched to the GMP100-4's designed setpoint and terminal layout for a plug-and-play fit. Generic substitutes with different trip points or geometry risk nuisance trips or inadequate protection, so OEM is strongly recommended for this safety control.
Rated Easy (2/5). Plan on about 15 minutes: turn off power and gas, note and disconnect the terminal wires, unscrew the old switch, and mount the replacement in the identical position. Never jumper or bypass the limit circuit. If the new switch trips repeatedly, have a licensed HVAC technician check filters, blower operation, and ductwork for restricted airflow.
