The genuine Goodman B4089343 is a #43 natural gas burner orifice (spud) that meters fuel into the in-shot burner on the Amana/Goodman AMV81155CXBB furnace and related models. The tiny drilled bore sets the gas flow rate for each burner, so a worn, enlarged, or debris-clogged orifice throws off the fuel/air ratio and produces yellow-tipping, sooting, or short-cycling. Installing the factory-spec orifice restores the correct BTU input and a crisp blue flame.
OEM orifices are CNC-drilled and gauged to the exact #43 bore Goodman engineered for this input rating. Generic orifices can vary a few thousandths of an inch — enough to over- or under-fire the burner and fail a combustion analysis. For a fuel-metering part, always match the OEM spec and never re-drill a used orifice.
Easy–Moderate — Shut off gas and power, unthread the old orifice from the manifold with a deep socket, thread in the new #43 spud, and verify manifold pressure and flame. Roughly 15–30 minutes; professional recommended.
