The Goodman B1370912S Primary Limit Switch is a genuine OEM high-limit safety control for the Goodman/Amana GMPE100-4A gas furnace. Featuring a 240°F trip point and a 7-inch insert length, it mounts on the heat-exchanger bulkhead and opens the burner circuit if plenum temperature exceeds safe limits — typically the result of restricted airflow from a dirty filter, blocked ducts, or a failing blower. Unlike a manual-reset switch, the primary limit is auto-resetting once temperatures return to normal.
The trip temperature and insert length are matched precisely to the GMPE100-4A heat exchanger. An OEM switch trips at the engineered 240°F setpoint; a generic with the wrong temperature rating or probe depth can either nuisance-trip on normal cycles or fail to protect the heat exchanger. For a safety-rated limit, exact OEM specs matter.
Two mounting screws and two spade terminals; the probe slides into the existing opening. Roughly 15–20 minutes for a confident DIYer. Disconnect power before servicing. If the new limit still trips, address the underlying airflow restriction — repeated high-limit trips point to a filter, duct, or blower problem, not the switch itself.
