This longer pre-formed hose carries acidic condensate between the collector box, drain trap, and drain outlet while keeping the furnace's sealed pressure references intact. Over time these hoses harden and crack, leading to water leaks, condensate backup, and nuisance pressure-switch lockouts — all resolved by replacing with the correct OEM length.
