The Goodman B1370191 is a genuine OEM primary high-limit switch built for the GDT115-5B gas furnace and compatible Goodman/Amana models. Positioned on the heat-exchanger/burner bulkhead, this 220°F limit is the furnace's main overheat safety — it opens the gas control circuit when supply-plenum temperatures exceed safe levels, most often due to dirty filters, blocked ductwork, or a stalled blower. A failed primary limit is a frequent cause of furnaces that ignite briefly then shut down on a safety fault.
Because the primary limit is safety-critical, the genuine Goodman OEM switch is strongly preferred: it is factory-calibrated to the exact 220°F trip point and uses the correct sensing element length and mounting flange for your model. Generic universal limits require careful cross-referencing and may not seat correctly, risking nuisance trips or unsafe operation.
Moderate (2/5). Requires removing the burner-compartment panel to access the mounting flange (usually two screws) and transferring two spade connectors. Always shut off gas and electrical power first. Plan on 15–20 minutes; professional installation recommended if you're unsure.
