The genuine Goodman 1370902S High-Limit Switch is a factory replacement for the Goodman GSU080-4 gas furnace. This normally-closed thermal safety switch mounts on the heat exchanger / furnace ceiling and opens the circuit if supply-air temperature climbs too high — protecting the exchanger from cracking and preventing a fire hazard. A tripped or failed limit is a leading cause of a furnace that heats then shuts off, or a blower that runs constantly. If the switch is stuck open, the furnace won't fire at all.
The OEM Goodman switch is calibrated to the exact 210°F trip point and 3-inch probe length specified for this heat exchanger. Substituting a universal limit with the wrong setpoint or depth risks premature nuisance trips (short cycling) or, worse, failing to trip when the furnace truly overheats. Because this is a safety component, we strongly recommend the OEM part.
Easy (2/5). Two mounting screws and two spade terminals. Shut off power and gas, note wire positions, and swap. Roughly 15-20 minutes. Verify airflow (filter, blower) after installation — a dirty filter is a common reason limits trip in the first place.
