The Goodman 1370902S is a factory-original high-temperature limit switch with a 210°F trip point and a 3-inch insertion depth, designed as a direct-fit replacement for the Goodman GDS80453ANA gas furnace. Mounted on the heat exchanger/plenum, this normally-closed switch opens and shuts off the burners if supply-air temperature exceeds 210°F — protecting the heat exchanger from cracking due to overheating from restricted airflow or blower failure. It automatically re-closes once the furnace cools.
Limit switches are life-safety components. The genuine Goodman switch is calibrated to the exact 210°F setpoint and 3" depth the furnace was engineered around. A generic with the wrong trip temp or probe length can cause nuisance shutdowns or, worse, fail to protect the heat exchanger. Always use OEM for safety controls.
Rated Easy. Disconnect power, remove the two mounting screws, transfer the wires one at a time, and secure the new switch. About 15–20 minutes. If the old limit tripped, correct the airflow problem (filter, ducts, blower) before running the furnace.
