The Goodman B1370188 Primary Limit Switch is the OEM main high-limit control for the DMS80904BNA furnace and compatible Goodman/Amana models. Mounted on the heat-exchanger partition, this auto-reset switch opens at 170°F when supply-air temperature climbs too high, cutting the burners to prevent heat-exchanger overheating while the blower continues to purge residual heat.
The primary limit is the furnace's main overheat guardian, so trip accuracy matters. Our OEM switch is factory-matched for the 170°F set point and correct bracket fit. Generic units with a different trip temperature can cause nuisance shutdowns or, worse, allow the exchanger to overheat. We strongly recommend OEM for this control.
Easy (1/5). Kill power at the breaker, photograph and transfer the two wire leads, remove the two mounting screws, and seat the new switch flush against the heat-exchanger panel. Around 10–15 minutes for a DIYer. Frequent tripping typically indicates low airflow or a cracked exchanger — inspect before repeated replacements.
