The Goodman B1370188 is the factory-OEM primary high-limit switch for the Amana/Goodman AMH80704BNAA gas furnace. Positioned on the heat-exchanger bulkhead, this control is the furnace's main overheat protection: it opens the gas circuit if supply-air temperature climbs past the 170°F set point due to low airflow or a stuck blower, then auto-resets once the plenum cools.
Because the primary limit governs the furnace's core overheat shutdown, the exact OEM trip temperature matters. The genuine B1370188 is calibrated to 170°F and uses the correct disc diameter and insertion depth. Aftermarket substitutes with different set points can cause repeated limit trips or allow the heat exchanger to run too hot — a durability and safety risk. OEM is strongly recommended here.
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate. Shut off power, note the wiring, unplug the terminals, remove the mounting screws, and seat the new switch flush against the bulkhead in the original orientation. About 15 minutes. Confirm proper airflow and filter condition before returning the furnace to service.
