The Goodman B1370187 is a genuine OEM primary high-limit switch rated at 160°F, engineered for the DMS80703ANA gas furnace and compatible Goodman/Amana models. Positioned on the heat exchanger bulkhead in the supply-air stream, this auto-reset control is the furnace's main overheat protection. If supply temperature exceeds the setpoint — commonly from a dirty filter, closed registers, or a weak blower — the limit opens the gas valve circuit to shut down the burners and prevent heat-exchanger damage, then resets automatically as the plenum cools.
As the primary limit, this switch must match the furnace's certified trip temperature and insertion depth exactly. A generic switch with the wrong setpoint or probe length can short-cycle the furnace or, worse, allow the heat exchanger to overheat. OEM is the recommended choice for the primary safety limit.
Kill power, photograph the wiring, remove the two screws holding the switch to the heat-exchanger panel, transfer the spade terminals, and remount squarely so the sensing element sits in the airstream. Fifteen to twenty minutes; correcting that airflow restriction is the real fix if it kept tripping.
