The Goodman 1370908S Limit Switch is the primary high-limit control for GMP075-3 gas furnaces, with a 160°F set point and a 7-inch probe insertion depth. It monitors heat-exchanger temperature: it signals the blower and, if the plenum overheats from restricted airflow, it opens to cut the gas valve and prevent heat-exchanger damage. A failed limit switch shows up as short-cycling on limit, or a furnace that heats but never shuts the burners off correctly.
Both the 160°F set point and the 7-inch length must match your furnace — a shorter probe reads air temperature incorrectly and trips at the wrong time. This genuine Goodman OEM switch is factory-calibrated to spec, unlike adjustable universal limits that require field setup and can drift.
About 20 minutes. Disconnect power, note the wire positions, remove the two mounting screws on the heat-exchanger panel, and withdraw the probe. Insert the new switch to the same depth, refasten, and reconnect the spades. Verify a full heat cycle with the blower staging on and off normally.
