The Goodman 20162903 is a genuine OEM primary high-limit switch with a 150°F trip point, built for the WFM18140S5DNCC furnace. Mounted on the heat-exchanger/blower deck, this normally-closed thermal switch monitors supply-air temperature and opens the control circuit to shut off the burners if the furnace overheats — typically from restricted airflow such as a clogged filter or failed blower. A failed or drifting limit switch causes nuisance shutdowns or, worse, allows dangerous over-temp conditions.
The OEM limit switch is calibrated to the precise 150°F trip point and disc geometry the furnace requires — essential for a safety control. A generic switch may match the rating at lower cost, but for any high-limit safety device we recommend OEM to guarantee the correct set point and reliable auto-reset behavior.
Easy (1 of 5). Roughly 10 minutes. Disconnect power, pull the two spade terminals, remove the mounting screws, and seat the new switch flat against the panel in the same orientation. If the old switch was tripping, correct the airflow problem (dirty filter, blocked returns, weak blower) before restoring service.
