The Goodman 20162903 Primary Limit Switch is a genuine OEM high-temperature safety control for GMV951155DXBB 96% AFUE two-stage gas furnaces. Mounted on the heat-exchanger/blower deck, this normally-closed thermal cutout opens at approximately 150°F to cut power to the gas valve if airflow is restricted or the blower fails, preventing dangerous heat-exchanger overheating. If your furnace short-cycles, trips on limit, or shuts the burners off shortly after ignition, a failed limit switch is a frequent culprit.
As a life-safety component, this OEM limit switch is calibrated to Goodman's exact open temperature and mounting footprint. Generic substitutes with the wrong trip point can either nuisance-trip (no heat) or, worse, fail to open in time. We recommend the genuine OEM part for any safety limit.
Easy (1/5). One of the simplest furnace repairs — usually two mounting screws and two spade terminals, under 10 minutes. Cut power first and verify the 150°F rating stamped on the old switch matches before installing.
