The Goodman B1370198 Primary High-Limit Switch is a genuine OEM safety control for the GMNT090-3B gas furnace. Mounted on the heat-exchanger/supply-air side, this primary limit opens at 150°F to shut off the burners if supply-air temperature climbs too high — protecting the heat exchanger from cracking due to restricted airflow. It is one of the furnace's most important safety devices.
The OEM B1370198 is calibrated to Goodman's 150°F primary setpoint and the exact bracket used on the GMNT090-3B. Because the primary limit governs safe heat-rise, an off-spec generic switch can either short-cycle the burners or fail to protect the heat exchanger. Matching the OEM disc temperature and mounting position is essential. Repeated trips usually indicate an airflow restriction — inspect the filter, blower, and ductwork.
Rated 2/5. With power and gas off, remove the mounting screws, move the two spade connectors to the new switch, and remount it flush to the heat-exchanger panel. Typically a 10–15 minute job. Never bypass a primary limit switch.
