Protect your Goodman GMH951155DXAE furnace from overheating with this genuine OEM primary high-limit switch, factory-calibrated to a 150°F trip point. Mounted on the heat exchanger or plenum, the primary limit continuously monitors supply-air temperature. If airflow is lost — from a dirty filter, failed blower, or closed dampers — the switch opens the gas valve circuit to prevent dangerous heat buildup, then automatically resets once temperatures return to normal.
The 150°F setpoint on the OEM 20162903 is matched to this furnace's heat-exchanger design and blower table. A generic limit with a different trip temperature or bimetal tolerance can cause repeated short-cycling on limit or, more dangerously, allow the unit to run hotter than designed. For a primary safety control, insist on the genuine OEM part with the correct rating.
Easy — About 10–15 minutes. Turn off power, disconnect the two spade terminals, remove the mounting screws, seat the new limit against the same surface, and reconnect. No special tools. If the old limit was tripping, correct the underlying airflow restriction (filter, blower, ductwork) before returning the furnace to service.
