The Goodman 20162903 is a factory-original primary high-limit switch engineered for the AMH951155DXAC gas furnace and other compatible Goodman and Amana models. This normally-closed safety control opens the burner circuit when supply-air temperature exceeds its 150°F trip point, protecting the heat exchanger and blower assembly from overheating caused by restricted airflow, a dirty filter, or blower failure. A failed or nuisance-tripping limit switch is one of the most common causes of a furnace that short-cycles on heat or locks out entirely.
This is a genuine OEM Goodman component with the correct trip temperature, mounting bracket, and terminal spacing for a drop-in fit. Aftermarket limit switches often carry a different trip point or bracket geometry, which can cause premature nuisance trips or improper high-temperature protection. For a safety-rated control, we strongly recommend the exact-fit OEM part.
Easy — DIY friendly (15–20 minutes). Disconnect power, remove two mounting screws, transfer the wire leads to the new switch, and reinstall. Always verify airflow and replace the filter to prevent repeat failures. If you are not comfortable working around the burner assembly or gas controls, use a licensed HVAC technician.
